Glimpse
of Health in South: Moving Beyond the Microscope: Awareness workshop in the
South
As a part
of the 50th anniversary celebratory activities, a joint academic
programme named Glimpse of Health in South: Moving Beyond the Microscope was
held by the College of Pathologists of Sri Lanka (CPSL) in collaboration with
the Galle Medical Association (GMA), the leading professional body in Galle.
This was held on the 8th of July 2025, at the Auditorium of the GMA
in the National Hospital Galle and the aim of
this activity was to make the stakeholders aware on the advancement of histopathology
services in the South.

Dr.
Thushari Liyanage, Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Medicine, University of
Ruhuna, Dr. Mahilal Wijekoon, Consultant Oncologist, National Hospital Galle
and Dr. Priya Amaraweera, Consultant Histopathologist, National Hospital Galle
contributed as resource persons. The event
organizers were Dr Priya Amaraweera, Joint Secretary of the CPSL 2025 and Dr.
Bhagya Piyasiri, Postgraduate Coordinator of the GMA.
The programme was participated by
many consultants of both GMA and CPSL including the President, Secretary and
the PG coordinator of GMA, surgeons, physicians, hematologists and many senior
pathologists of the Faculty of Medicine/University of Ruhuna, National Hospital
Galle and peripheral hospitals of the southern province. There was active
participation by postgraduate trainees.
