Panoramic Patho Vision 2025 - Art Competition & Exhibition
Exploring the science of pathology through diverse artistic creations
23rd-25th October 2025
The College of Pathologists of Sri Lanka, in celebration of the its 50th Anniversary presented
“Panoramic Patho Vision 2025”, an art competition and exhibition organized together with the Department
of Medical Humanities, University of Colombo.
The competition invited members of the pathology and laboratory medicine, including consultant
pathologists, postgraduate trainees, laboratory staff, overseas members, and group teams to express the
science of pathology through diverse artistic creations. Participants were encouraged to explore how the
world seen through the microscope, the diagnostic process, or the human side of disease could be
transformed into creative work. Entries were accepted in a wide range of categories, including paintings,
photography, poetry and prose, sculptures, wood carvings, and group artwork.
The response was highly encouraging, with around 40 submissions received. The artworks showed
impressive creativity and personal interpretation; some depicted microscopic structures in vivid colour,
while others reflected the emotional and human aspects of pathology through words. All submissions were
displayed at the UCFM Tower exhibition area throughout the days of 50th Anniversary
International Conference, attracting considerable interest from delegates.
Panoramic Patho Vision 2025 brought a new perspective to the anniversary celebrations, showing that
while pathology is a scientific discipline, it also inspires imagination, reflection, and artistic expression.
The exhibition helped remind everyone present that science and the arts can come together to create a
deeper understanding of the world we study and serve.
The exhibition was opened by Professors Chandu de Silva and Janaki Hewavisenthi.
A panel of judges appointed by the College evaluated the entries and selected the best creations in each
category.
Winners of the art completion were awarded certificates and tokens of appreciation at the closing
ceremony of the 50th Anniversary International Conference.
